At Blissful Mind and Body we want to help you balance your hormones naturally. Let's talk about Menopause and HRT. What is HRT? It's also know as hormone replacement therapy. What is menopause? The definition of menopause is when a women has not had a period for at least one year. The average age of menopause is age 55. Let's talk about perimenopause. Perimenopause is often not talked about and is definitely undertreated. Perimenopause can occur about 10 years before menopause and women can start experiencing symptoms at that time. If you have ever experienced brain fog, fatigue, weight gain, and wondered why, it's because your progesterone level starts to decrease in perimenopause and it is followed by a decrease in your estrogen level. As your hormone levels decrease, your risk for osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease increase.

As women get into menopause, some women experience hot flashes, brain fog, belly fat, insomnia, and waking up in the middle of the night with anxiety for no good reason. There are also genitourinary symptoms such as urinary frequency, leaking, and sharp or stabbing pain with sex. I've heard women describe it saying they feel like they're bein poked with needles or stabbed with knives. Women shouldn't have to suffer with these symptoms as there is HRT, hormone replacement therapy.
